Be a Part of the Paint Factory Restoration this Spring

Now that Ocean Alliance has moved our offices into the Tarr and Wonson Paint Manufactory in Gloucester, MA the next step is to turn the rest of the site into an oceanographic research and education center. To do this we need to finish the second set of larger brick buildings and install docks. We are now focusing on raising the funds to replace the roofs on the larger brick buildings.
Paint Factory Restoration PlanThe roof slates will need to be replaced with a recycled roofing product that will keep the authentic look of the original slates. In our efforts to preserve as much of the history and materials of the Paint Factory as possible, the slates will be removed and saved for a future community art project. There will be volunteer opportunities moving forward with this project so please contact us through our website or Facebook page if you’re interested.
Paint Factory Fogged InWe have the building permits in hand so now we are working on the funding so this next phase of construction can begin this spring. We are very grateful to the lead donors who are acting as a catalyst for this project. They are the Dusky Foundation, Gortons of Gloucester and the Annenberg Foundation. We’ve successfully raised the funds to complete the roof of Building A and we still need to raise $12k for the roof of Building B. You can help by making a donation of any amount under Donate Online with the designation “Paint Factory Restoration & Docks.” Thank you for helping us save the Paint Factory.
